Founder's note
My wife is fast. I am not.
Why 789 exists
My wife is a runner. She actually loves it — the early alarms, the long Sundays, all of it. Me? I wanted to love it. I wanted the fitness, the fresh air, the people. What I got was the special shame of being the slow one.
Every run club says all paces welcome. Then the pack vanishes over a hill and you're doing your honest 8-minute kays alone, wondering if anyone noticed. They don't come back for you. They say they will. They don't.
So I built the club I couldn't find. 789 runs at 7, 8 or 9 minutes a kilometre — on purpose, all of us, every Saturday. Nobody here is the slow one, because the slow ones are the club. Get fit. Meet people. Feel like trash about none of it.
— The founder. Still slow. On purpose.
